Badly copied idea is worse than no idea II.

This spot is a sequel of the original post about czech Digg clone Linkuj.

Absence of understanding what are you copying is the biggest feature of Polish Twitter clone Robisz.pl

Here are details:

  • Usability: if you sumbit wrong login/password, nothing happens, no error message
  • Desing: design is a completely Twitter rip-off, but much more ugly
  • Acesibility: in settings, hints under text fields are colored with #DCDCDC and sized 9px.
  • Coding: messages does not refresh automaticaly by AJAX script, you have to manually refresh page to see what’s new
  • Development: there is no limit for character count in one message – so further implemetnation of SMS will be tough
  • Privacy: there is no chance to limit your updates to be ‘friends only’ – so using service as a private channel is impossible
  • and finally, basic idea – there is only way to submit your messages: via submit form on the site! No SMS, no instant messaging. The whole idea of the site, ‘Co robisz?’‘What do you do?’ is killed from the very beginning. As I said, badly copied idea is worse than no idea at all.

  1. I think you’re right. Robisz.pl is half-baked…

But there are other sites based on Twitter’s idea. http://blip.pl, http://thoro.pl/co.robisz and http://ibogg.pl

PS. Sorry for my English. ;-)

  2. no need to excuse for English, mine is far from perfect :)

blip.pl is not ready yet, ibogg has the same problem – only replace web form with gadu-gadu interface. thoro.pl/co.robisz is the most advanced, as there are three ways to add messages, includining universal jabber protocol. But none of them allows all three key ways – web, IM and SMS.

  3. I’m programer at thoro.pl and I can say, that we’re working upon sending messages from mobile phone. ;-)

I only worry, that our project is know less that half-baked robisz.pl or not done blip.pl.

  4. OK, let me know when your project is fully ready to review :)

  5. Thanks for mentionning information about these Polish microblogs !

I believe microblogs are changing society profoundly, because information can easily be past through on a world wide scale at a pace never seen before.
